Dr. Pacia is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at NYU and trained in both Neurology and Epilepsy at the Yale University Medical Center. There, he completed a clinical fellowship and was subsuqently awarded an American Epilepsy Foundation of America research grant to study computer assister methods of seizure localization within the brain prior to epilepsy surgury. In 1993, Dr. Pacia joined the faculty at NYU and was appointed Director of Clinical Neurophysiology at the NYU Comprehensive Epilepsy Center (CEC). Since that time Dr. Pacia has served as a principal investigator for the NYU site of the first multi-center NIH funded project to study epilepsy surgury and was awarded a PACE (Parents Against Childhood Epilepsy) foundation grant to study the neurochemisty of seizure producing brain regions in patients undergoing epilepsy surgery. Dr. Pacia has also carried out numerous studies of the clinical and EEG features of various types of seizure disorders. He is a co-investigator on a new prospective study of computerized cognitive training for patients with epilepsy and memory disorders and has co-authored numerous peer-reviewedarticles on the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy. He is also co-editor of the first comprehensive book on Complementary Therapies for Epilepsy. In addition to treating patients with epilepsy, Dr. Pacia has a special interest in taking care of patients with seizures resulting from brain tumors.
