Giving Back
On two spring evenings this past April, an intimate gathering was organized by Betty Wasserman at her home in Manhattan to help support faces. The occasion was a cocktail reception to meet the designer, Jennifer George, who presented a private showing of her jewelry for sale with proceeds earmarked for faces. This lovely mix of friends and supporters helped raise over $5,000 for us!
Betty Wasserman’s daughter, Milly, is a patient of Dr. Orrin Devinsky and she wanted to do something to help the organization that in recent years has helped her family. Betty tells the story of Milly who, at one time, suffered with over 30 seizures a day but is now stable and has been almost seizure free for nearly 4 months: “she changed schools, skipped a grade and is calmer, happier and more focused than ever due to her care from Dr. Devinsky and the Atkins/Ketogenic Diet.”
Betty will happily tell you that “while in the hospital, the faces team was very supportive and the work that got done in the playroom saved us from going crazy all those weeks cooped up and attached to machines 24/7. Milly really enjoyed all the volunteers and the materials they had to offer. We wanted to support them, the cause and other families dealing with similar situations.”
The jewelry show was “a nice way to give back, to show how every individual can make a difference and to help you feel empowered by doing something! This condition is so much about the unknown, so knowing that I can generate some funding, bring people together and allow Milly to participate at the ripe age of 6 is extremely rewarding. “
Thank you Betty and Milly!
