Dr. Orrin Devinsky discusses Seizures and the death of Jett Travolta

January 06, 2009

Jett Travolta, John Travolta’s son, was diagnosed with epilepsy and Kawasaki disease. Before his death Jett experienced a seizure. The relatedness of his death and previous seizure are investigated. Reports claim that his death was the result of a seizure. However, experts are skeptical. Neurologists argue that seizures alone are rarely fatal. Dr. Devinsky does not think his Kawasaki was the cause of his death, but rather developmental problems and unknown mechanisms, often thought to be related to a major seizure, possibly to do with the respiratory or pulmonary system or the heart.
