Epilepsy Research

NYU Langone’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center is dedicated to research that expands our understanding of epilepsy and seizure disorders and advances their treatment. Our research program includes basic and translational as well as clinical research projects, including collaborative studies across more than 100 international epilepsy centers.

Our core research areas span new drug development, sudden unexplained death in epilepsy (SUDEP), epilepsy genetics and precision therapies, neurotechnology and brain stimulation, neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration, memory and human cognition, and epilepsy biomarker discovery. Our research is supported by Finding a Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures (FACES) as well as numerous grants from the National Institutes of Health, other federal agencies, and foundations.

Our mission is to enable groundbreaking discoveries that will lead to more effective therapies and enhanced quality of life for people with epilepsy.
